How does the bureau determine whether to set up sewage treatment facilities or septic tanks?

When applying for the installation of sewerage and drainage facilities, if the public sewage system pipelines have reached and can accommodate the sewage of the building, the installation of sewage treatment facility or septic tank can be exempted. If the public sewerage system does not reach that region, sewage treatment facilities should be installed in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Related laws and regulations:
(1)According to Article 49, Paragraph 1 of "Building Technical Code": If the public sewage system can accommodate the sewage from the new building, installation of sewage treatment facilities can be exempted.

(2)According to Article 29, Paragraph 1 of "Drainage Equipment Standard for Sewer Users": Users should install drainage facilities to discharge the sewage to catch basins or manholes; they cannot discharge the sewage to the sewer through the original septic tank or the sewage treatment facility in the building.

(3)According to Article 7 of “Guidelines for Review on the New Addition or Change of Rainwater and Sewage (Wastewater) Water Diversion Equipment of Buildings in Cities in Southern Taiwan”: Domestic sewage should be discharged to the sewage treatment facilities prior to being discharged to the effluent catch basin. Article 12: For those not specified in this guideline, Sewerage Law, Drainage Equipment Standard for Sewer Users, Building Technical Code for Facilities and other regulations related to buildings shall apply.
